Trip Advisor ranks Highland Heights Inn as the #2 hotel in Cape Breton!

I stayed for a couple of nights in August, then came back for 4 nights in October. The location is fantastic, great views, and centrally located. Equal distance to Sydney, Baddeck, and the Causeway. The owners are friendly, helpful, down to earth people who enjoy what they do. Did I mention live entertainment and a pleasant restaurant on site? I highly recommend this hotel.
Room Tip: Both my rooms were in the rear, with the second level patio facing the water. Excellent!
“Clean & comfortable – great food!”

We stayed here on our road trip through Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. It was conveniently located just steps from the the Scottish Highland Village. Room was clean and comfortable, with an excellent view of Bras d’Or Lake. It seemed new or newly renovated, and tastefully decorated. We ate breakfast in the attached restaurant, which was very good and reasonably priced, with a nice ambiance.
“Great hospitality for tired road warriors!”

My husband and I underestimated the time it would take to get to Iona once we arrived in Cape Bretton. The owners were very accomodating to us when we called multiple times to get directions (as we were navigating in the dark and on roads that we were unfamiliar with). We knew we would arrive after the restaurant was closed, but the owners told us not to worry. They arranged to keep the kitchen open for us, which was very thoughtful. We enjoyed our two night stay here in a lovely, nicely furnished room overlooking Bras d’Or Lake. The views of the lake were breathtaking from this vantage point. This Inn is a lovely place to stay for anyone visiting the nearby Cabot Trail.
Room Tip: All the rooms offer a view of Bras d’Or Lake.
